Designated Premises Managers (DPM)

The sale of alcohol in Scotland is closely monitored and regulated. One condition that must be met before you’re allowed to start selling is the appointment of a designated premises manager (DPM).

Whoever agrees to take the position must hold a current personal licence and is expected to be in day-to-day control of your premises, although they don’t have to be there every minute you’re open.

A person cannot be named as DPM at two venues simultaneously. If your designated premises manager leaves you will need to notify the licensing board within seven days of their departure, which gives you six weeks to add a new DPM to your licence. We can help you complete this process quickly and simply.
