Old £1 coin, under 3 weeks to go

We have in the past highlighted the introduction of new coins and bank notes with a number of new additions over recent months.

With each introduction of a new format, the predecessor is phased out.   A new 12 sided pound coin was introduced in March and the old pound coins shall cease to be legal tender on 15^th October 2017. From 11.59pm on October 15, businesses are under no obligation to accept the round £1 coin from customers.

Although reports in the Summer suggested the deadline may be delayed there have been no official announcements to date, so you better get spending!
