Northern Ireland - Consultation

22 Oct
2019

Northern Ireland’s Department for Communities has started a consultation on licensing laws within the jurisdiction. The Northern Irish system is currently Court based and has not experienced the similar type of reform which has been undertaken in England, Wales and Scotland in 2005 and 2009 respectively. The Department has stated it will “seek views on whether changes can be made in the future to ensure that Northern Ireland has a more flexible and modern licensing framework to response to changes in expectations and lifestyles”.

The consultation is open until 6th December 2019.

As a practice we do not advise on Northern Ireland licensing applications - however over the years we have established a strong network of agents who are specialists in the field of licensing.

Law correct at the date of publication.
