New s.182 Guidance Published 2015
2015
On Friday the Home Office published the latest edition of the s.182 guidance (‘the Guidance’). The Guidance reflects a number of upcoming changes to the law in relation to Regulated Entertainment which take effect on the 6th April 2015, upon which we have earlier reported.
In addition to revisions concerning Regulated Entertainment, the Guidance reflects other changes implemented by the Deregulation Act 2015 including the repealing the offence of selling liqueur confectionery to under 16s and the removal of the requirement for personal licence holders to renew their licences. Personal licences now last indefinitely, and not 10 years as previously prescribed.
Following a number incidents concerning children in the recent past, the Guidance has also been amended to remind Local Authorities that whilst undertaking their licensing functions, they need to protect children from sexual exploitation.
