This weekend we will see large gatherings of people to mark Remembrance Day ceremonies and also reports of pro-Palestine rallies taking place in London. Large gatherings of people can present an opportunity for minority groups to cause trouble and what may seem to be a peaceful congregation initially, could escalate into a dangerous situation, putting businesses at risk.
The National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) has produced guidance for businesses to protect their business and staff against the potential risks of social unrest, which includes:
- Prioritise staff safety, which can include briefing them of the events and the risks;
- Review existing business continuity and/or incident management plans; and
- Ensure CCTV is working correctly.
