National Police Chiefs' Council  (NPCC) has now Issued new Guidance on Spiking.

This advice, from the NPCC, which is being promoted by individual forces, is aimed at encouraging victims to report incidents of Spiking to the Police and outlining the procedure of testing which may take place following a report.

The guidance advises:

“It is not a crime to have illegal drugs in your system (unless you are driving), so please don’t let this stop you reporting spiking.”

This advice along with a recent guidance note from the LGA that coincides with the return of University Students for the new academic year.

Although anyone can be a victim of Spiking, a significant number of alleged Spikings were reported during the Autumn/Winter term of 2021 which coincided with the return of university students.
