Martyn's Law Update | Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill

26 Mar
2025

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, known colloquially as ‘Martyn’s Law’ yesterday (25th March 2025) passed its final Parliamentary hurdle when the House of Commons considered proposed amendments from the Lords.

The next and final step is for the King to give Royal Assent to the Bill making it an Act (i.e. a law).  This is expected to take place within the next 10 - 14 days.

There will follow an implementation period (expected to be 2 years) in which time important documents, such as guidance to venues, and the setting up of the Regulator (who will sit within the Security Industry Authority) will be established.

We shall keep you updated.

Law correct at the date of publication.
