Gambling - Remote Gambling and Software Technical Standards (RTS) Consultation launched
2016
The Gambling Commission has recently launched a consultation regarding ‘Remote gambling and software technical Standards’ (RTS) although there has been some updating in the intervening period, this represents the first full review of this area since July 2007. The RTS set out the key regulatory requirement to ensure fairness and transparency of remote gambling.
The Commission states:
“The consultation seeks to ensure consumers are provided with sufficient information to gamble responsibly whilst delivering an effective and proportionate regulatory framework. This is achieved through the proposed introduction of new standards (e.g. use of third party software, live dealer standards and virtual sports betting) and reinforcement of existing requirements (eg displaying of transactions and financial limits).”
A link to the current standards can be found here.
Responses to the Consultation must be made by 17th January 2017, the Commission have provided a formal response form, which can be downloaded here.
