2016

The Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB) has published its National Gambling Strategy for 2016-17 and 2018-19. This follows a public consultation earlier this year.

The RGSB state in the introduction to the strategy document as follows;

“This document sets out the strategy which the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board proposes for the three years 2016-17 to 2018-19 to encourage responsibility in gambling, to reduce or mitigate gambling-related harm, and to increase the protection of the vulnerable”.

The document also details the strategy objectives stating as follows:

  1. To develop more effective harm minimisation interventions, in particular through further experimentation and piloting of different approaches.
  2. To improve treatment through better use of knowledge, data and evaluation.
  3. To build a culture where new initiatives are routinely evaluated and findings put into practice.
  4. To encourage a wider range of organisations in the public and private sector to accept their responsibility to tackle gambling-related harm.
  5. To progress towards a better understanding of gambling-related harm and its measurement.”

The final document can be found here: "The National Responsible Gambling Strategy 2016-17 to 2018-19".
