Gambling - Defining and Quantifying Gambling-Related Harm
2018
The Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB), whose stated purpose is to provide independent advice to the Gambling Commission, and through it to the Government, on a national responsible gambling strategy, has recently published a new report entitled “Measuring gambling-related harms – A framework for action”.
The report is the result of close collaboration between the Commission, GambleAware as funding body and RGSB.
Amongst the aims of the report is an attempt to agree a definition of gambling-related harms that can be used by policy makers and public health officials. Although this has been long recognised as a specific issue, how it is defined is yet to be agreed. Also, the reports seeks to agree a method for measuring and monitoring the perceived harm.
