Gambling- Consultation deadline extended

26 Jan
2016

We previously reported on 30th November 2015 that a consultation had been launched by the Gambling Commission regarding ‘where gaming machines may be played’.

This brief consultation has potentially far reaching implications across the gaming industry including plans by Greene King to licence some of their estate for Bingo.

The consultation was initially due to close on 22nd February 2016; this has drawn criticism from several stakeholders who felt insufficient time had been afforded to consider and respond to this important consultation (particularly as the Festive period fell in the middle of the consultation window).

The new consultation end date will be 21st March 2016.

We would encourage everyone with any interest in gaming machines to read this consultation and, if appropriate, make a formal representation – this is the link.

We shall keep you updated.

Law correct at the date of publication.
