Euro Championships | Extended Hours

05 Jun
2024

We recently reported that the Licensing Act 2003 (UEFA European Football Championship Licensing Hours) Order 2024 came into force on 25th May.

The Order means that should the men’s senior football team representing England or Scotland feature in the Semi-Final or Final of the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship held in Germany relevant premises in England and Wales will be able to extend trade from 11 pm to 1 am.  The Order does not extend to Scotland, which is governed by seperate Legislation.

If your licence already permits trading to 1 am (or later) this Order may be of no interest to you.

The Order defines a relevant premises as a premises licences or club premises certificates which authorise licensable activities to be carried on up to or after the beginning of the period of the specified times (i.e. 11 pm).

If your licence does not permit you to sell/supply alcohol for consumption on the premises until 11 pm, the Order will not apply to your premises.

For example, premises which are required to stop selling/supplying customers earlier on Sunday 14th July at say 10:30 pm, will have to apply for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN), if they want to trade later to celebrate an England / Scotland* win / loss* (delete as appropriate).

Contact us if you need help making your TEN.
