Covid 19 - What you need to know - Coronavirus Act 2020

Late last night Parliament passed into law the Coronavirus Act 2020, before shutting down until 21st April.

As with all legislation Explanatory notes accompany the Act.

In respect of the leisure and hospitality industry s.52 and Schedule 2 of the Act give powers to the Secretary of State  to issue directions relating to events, gatherings and premises.  As we have made you aware and previously reported, the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Business Closure) (England) Regulations 2020 in effect pre-empted  the Act officially closing premises on Saturday. 

Specific powers for Local Authorities to create, by regulation, new provisions as to how they carry out  hearings are also included.
