Covid 19 - What you need to know -All-Party Parliamentary Group for Hospitality and Tourism
2020
We previously reported about the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Hospitality and Tourism urgent inquiry into establishing the best ways to support the recovery of businesses hit by COVID-19.
With the 4th July approaching it is helpful that the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Hospitality and Tourism’s report, in conjunction with UKHospitaility, has now been published.
A copy of the report can be found here. The report entitled ‘Pathways to Recovery’ has six chapters entitled:
- Chapter 1: COVID-19 and the Hospitality and Tourism Sectors
- Chapter 2: Conditions for Restart
- Chapter 3: Operational Guidance
- Chapter 4: Supply Chains
- Chapter 5: Business Support
- Chapter 6: Long Term Requirements
Steve Double MP, Chair of the Hospitality and Tourism group in his foreword to the report states:
“The aim of this report is simple, to provide Government with a blueprint for how to support the hospitality and tourism sectors through their transition to a ‘new normal ’and enable them to thrive moving forward.”
The severe impact of the pandemic on our sector and the need for substantial ongoing support to aid its recovery are outlined therein.
The issue of customer confidence is examined within the report and how important this will be on the speed with which the industry may recover. On a related matter the public reaction to the re-opening of highway shops may give some encouragement that the nation are ready to return to normality in large numbers, once restrictions are lifted.
