Community film exhibition consultation

05 Jul
2013

In our recent article ‘Further deregulation - films in community premises (E&W)’ we reported on the proposed deregulation of films as part of the Draft Regulation Bill.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has now launched a consultation on this matter seeking views on whether:

  1. “to keep things as they are; or
  2. to allow ‘not-for-profit’ film exhibitions in community venues between 8am and 11pm, provided that the exhibitor ensures that the screening abides by any age classification ratings" and the audience is 500 persons or less.

The consultation itself can be found here and responses can be posted or emailed to communityfilmconsultation@culture.gsi.gov.uk.

The closing date for the consultation is 28 August 2013.

Law correct at the date of publication.
