The Draft Deregulation Bill has now been published as part of the “Government’s ongoing drive to remove unnecessary bureaucracy that costs British businesses millions, slows down public services like schools and hospitals, and hinders millions of individuals in their daily lives.”

Clause 34 of the Bill relates to the exhibition of films in community premises and deregulates this activity when the following criteria are met:

  • Entertainment is provided between 08:00 and 23:00;
  • It is not provided with a view to profit;
  • Audience consists of no more than 500 persons; and
  • Admission of children is restricted in accordance with any recommendation of the film classification body or relevant licensing authority.

For those interested, the Bill itself can be found here: 'Draft Deregulation Bill'.

Law correct at the date of publication.
