Alexander vows to tighten taxi licensing

From a report conducted by Baroness Casey, into grooming gangs and child sexual abuse (findings published on the 17 June), it was reported that group-based child sexual exploitation had links with taxis.

In response to the report findings, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander, state that “we've committed to legislating this issue”

"We will work as quickly as possible and consider all options including out-of-area working, national standards and enforcement, seeking the best overall outcome for passenger safety."
