Gambling - Extending the Horserace Betting Levy

27 Jun
2014

The DCMS has published a technical consultation which seeks views on the mechanics of extending the Horserace Betting Levy to offshore remote gambling operators licensed by the Gambling Commission.

The consultation document sets out the legislative changes that the Government proposes to put in place by means of a Statutory Instrument, seeks evidence about potential impact and sets out next steps.

In particular, views are sought from those within the betting and horseracing industries on the practicalities of implementation.

Further, the Consultation considers options for wider Levy reform, including options to further modernise the existing Levy, later in the year.

The consultation period runs for 8 weeks closing 21 August 2014 and can be viewed here: Extending the Horserace Betting Levy: A consultation on implementation
