Woking - EMRO and late night levy rejected

2013

Last night, the Licensing Committee at Woking Council resoundingly voted against implementation of an EMRO or Late Night Levy (9:2).  The Licensing Committee concluded that an EMRO would deter local business development and would only cause persons using the late night facilities to go to other nearby towns.

Additionally, it determined that the monies raised from the Late Night Levy would be insufficient to provide any real benefit to the town along with failing to address those premises which may cause concern.

The Licensing Committee proposal for rejection will now be referred to Council's Executive for verification but it is highly unlikely that either provision will now be adopted.
