Wales - Takeaway food businesses and food hygiene ratings

22 Mar
2016

In November 2013, the Food Hygiene Rating (Wales) Act 2013 made it compulsory for all food businesses to publicly display their food hygiene rating on their premises.

From 28 November 2016, takeaway food businesses in Wales will be required to remind customers on certain materials that they can check the food hygiene rating of the business on the food hygiene ratings website. What these businesses will need to do is publish a bilingual statement on leaflets/menus that show food for sale, the price and a way of ordering the food without visiting the premises.

The statement will also need to remind consumers of their legal right to ask the food business for their food hygiene rating when they order.

Law correct at the date of publication.
