Wales - Smoking In Cars

03 Jun
2015

The Welsh National Assembly has just passed a law banning people from smoking in cars when children are present.

Offenders will face a £50 fixed penalty notice from 1st October 2015 when this measure will come into force.

This brings Wales into line with England where a similar provision is also due to come into force on 1st October following the enactment of the Children and Families Act 2014.

This ban does not apply to genuinely ‘open top' cars, when the roof is down. An open sunroof does not count for this exemption!

Law correct at the date of publication.
