Tobacco 'licensing' - consultation expires 20 May 2016

As previously reported here the Government launched a consultation into the tobacco supply chain a few months ago as to whether tobacco wholesalers and retailers should become licensed going forward.  The consultation expires 20 May 2016.

A survey published last week by the Tobacco Retailers’ Alliance (TRA) apparently showed that 88% of 2,500 retailers polled believed that that their stores might close if they were to lose the right to sell tobacco. These findings will in part frame the response of the TRA to the consultation.
