Tobacco and Vapes Bill update

It was in January 2025 that we provided an update on the progress of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill here

In that time, the Bill has now completed its reading and report stages in both the House of Commons and House of Lords.

The next step is for the ‘consideration of amendments’ - with the next scheduled sitting being on 23 March 2026 - in which the House Commons should consider motions to amend made by the House of Lords. However, each House must take it in turns considering any amendments made by the other until both agree on the final wording (which is why this stage of the process is colloquially known as ‘ping pong’).

Once any final wording is agreed between the two Houses then the Bill can go forward for Royal Assent and become law.
