Shop opening hours including Sunday trading - parliamentary brief

25 Aug
2015

The House of Commons Library has just published a briefing note, the aim of which is to look in detail at permissible shop opening hours.

In the process, it also summarises the background to the Sunday Trading Act 1994 and the Christmas Day (Trading) Act 2004.

It also considers the August 2015 consultation paper on whether the Government should devolve Sunday trading rules as part of its localism agenda in order to give local areas greater control of their local economy; on which we have previously reported - see our article 'Sunday Trading Hours Consulation Launch'.

The report can be found here: "Shop opening hours and Sunday Trading".

Law correct at the date of publication.
