Scotland - victory for Sky in football screening copyright case

It has been reported that the Premises Licence Holder and Premises Manager of a Glasgow pub have been fined for screening Sky sports to customers without the proper authorisation from Sky. The successful claim made by Sky was for breach of an interim interdict order leading to a finding against the defendants of contempt of court.
Interestingly, this was the first case in Scotland brought by Sky on copyright grounds relating to on-screen graphics.
Perhaps more noteworthy for the wider trade, this matter is another in a series of reported enforcement prosecutions being brought against pubs, which shows no sign of abating at the moment.
Law correct at the date of publication.
