Scotland - Personal Licence Refresher Training Revocations - the race to surrender!

Further to our news on Wednesday that an estimated 10,000 people are being notified that their personal licences are being revoked for failing to meet legal needs over training ('Scotland - Personal Licence Refresher Training - the fall out begins!') the topic was well aired at a licensing conference held in Glasgow today, attended by partner, Kate Redford.
The position would appear to be that:
- Some 7600 licences are in the process of being revoked or have been revoked to date
- The estimate is indeed of in excess of 10,000 who have either failed to re-train or notify such re-training to the Licensing Boards as required
- Any revocation, as previously reported, will lead currently to a 5 year ban on re-application
- Those who are in danger of revocation (but where such revocation has yet to take place) are being actively encouraged to surrender their personal licences and re-apply to avoid that 5 year ban
- Dundee Board is apparently offering such surrender and re-application as an alternative to revocation
- That over 30,000 have re-trained as required but a number of those did not realise the additional requirement to notify. There is a double requirement; failure of one or both can result in revocation.
Scottish personal licence holders (who may be affected) should URGENTLY check the grant date of their licence and proceed to seek to surrender if that is their best way forward to avoid a revocation, if they have failed to train and/or notify such training in time.
Law correct at the date of publication.
