Scotland - changes to acceptable forms of ID from 1 October 2013

30 Sep
2013

As previously reported, the Scottish Government is extending the list of ID documents which provide a defence for retailers when selling, or allowing the use of, certain age restricted products. For details of the changes, please see our previous article here

The changes come into force on 1 October 2013.

Premises selling alcohol should also be mindful of the mandatory licence condition for an age verification policy to be in place requiring steps be taken to establish the age of the customer if they appear to be under 25 (or any older age specified in the policy).

Should you have any queries about the forthcoming changes to the law or age verification policies, please contact us.

Law correct at the date of publication.
