Parliamentary Library Briefing Papers can give a useful overview on specialist areas of legislation and now we are post-election, a number have just been released.

The purpose of this particular briefing note is to consider in detail the Protection from Tobacco (Sales from Vending Machines) England Regulations 2010, which banned the sale of tobacco from vending machines in England. The primary objective was to protect children and young people from the harm caused by smoking by making it difficult for them to obtain cigarettes.
