Primary Authority to be extended to fire safety

27 Nov
2013

Primary Authority allows businesses to form a partnership with a single local authority in relation to certain legislation or specific functions, which can lead to greater consistency in regulation and enforcement.

It has been announced that the Government will take forward legislation (in England and Wales) to extend Primary Authority to fire safety with effect from 6 April 2014.

As the relevant press release stated: “Businesses and fire and rescue services will benefit from clearer and more consistent enforcement of fire safety regulations, along with clearer advice on how to comply with the law”.

Further details on Primary Authority can be found on the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO) website here.
