The Code of Practice - Powers of Entry will finally come into force on the 6th April after it gained the necessary Parliamentary Approval.

We have been monitoring its introduction for some time after the Government announced the Code would be introduced this year, in June 2014!

The Code is issued pursuant to s.48 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.  The power of entry is widely recognised as an important tool to enable authorities to carry out their duties and protect the public from harm.  The purpose of the Code is to ensure greater consistency in the way the various Authorities exercise these powers whilst also providing a clearer understanding for those affected by them, being  the public at large.

The final version of the Code, can be found here.
