Potential outdoor seating consultation

At the end of last month Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP asked a written question as to what work the Department of Housing, Communities and Local Government was undertaking with London Councils “to expedite approval processes for independent hospitality businesses seeking to implement proposals such as outdoor seating.”

The response from the relevant Minister (Nesil Caliskan MP) was to reference the new strategic licensing functions for the London Mayor and Greater London Authority (which will be coming into effect in the future) but also mentioning that on a national level “the government has committed to taking forward the recommendations of the Licensing Taskforce related to outdoor spaces by increasing the maximum term length for pavement licenses and consulting on the case for a minimum term length
