New psychoactive substance banned under temporary power

26 Nov
2015

As previously reported, the Psychoactive Substances Bill is continuing is way through Parliament.

In the meantime, the Government will place a temporary ban (through a Temporary Class Drug Order) on MPA, properly known as Methiopropamine, which has been implicated in the deaths of 22 people between 2012 and 2015.

The Order takes effect from Friday 27 November 2015 and will last for up to 12 months whilst it is determined whether MPA should be classified and controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The next stage for the aforementioned Bill is the Report Stage in the House of Commons, the date of which is still to be confirmed.
