Late Night Levy for Hackney?

Hackney’s Licensing Committee has approved in principle the possible adoption of a Late Night Levy. This will now go before the full council for approval later this month. If approved, the proposals will go out for public consultation.

If finally adopted the Levy would be introduced from April 2017.  The full anticipated time line is as follows:

• Formal consultation on the levy – August to October 2016
• Council decides on levy following consultation – November 2016

The following steps are subject to the Council deciding to introduce a levy:

• Notifications sent to holders of relevant authorisations – December 2016
• Period of free variations – January to February 2017
• Start date of the levy – 1 April 2017
