Further to our news item of 4th July 2014 ('Chelmsford Next for Levy?'), we can confirm that on 16th July 2014 the full Council met and approved the Levy which will commence on 1st November 2014.
It is believed that some 41 premises will be required to discharge the levy unless applications are made to reduce their hours of operation.
Chelmsford City Council’s Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, Ian Grundy, has stated that money raised by the levy will be used to provide additional projects and initiatives to keep the City Centre even safer as well as developing ongoing projects.
Should you wish to reduce your hours of operation so as to avoid payment of the levy, a prompt application must be made.
Law correct at the date of publication.
