Basic good housekeeping always important!

 It can be the easiest things which are overlooked!

The recent successful prosecution of and resultant fine imposed on a Bristol area licensee over a series of ‘minor’ licensing transgressions reinforces the need for on-going and continuous due diligence in respect of such matters.

The offences cited included:

 A summary of the premises licence was not clearly displayed;

  • There was no copy of a up-to-date licence on the premises;
  • The pub's CCTV system was displaying the wrong time and date at the time of the visit;
  • Records of regular noise checks were not being kept;
  • There was no soap, nor hand-drying facilities in one of the male toilets.

 Our ‘Little Book of Licensing Tips’, regularly updated and available free of charge, (and its Scottish equivalent) contains a useful checklist of such matters. To request a copy please email: jpupius@john-gaunt.co.uk
